When people hear the word trauma, they often think of major events such as accidents, natural disasters, violence, or abuse. While trauma can result from these experiences, it can also develop through ongoing stress, emotional neglect, bullying, family conflict, relationship difficulties, illness, grief, or simply growing up in an environment where you did not feel safe, seen, or supported. Many people are surprised to discover that trauma is not just about what happened to us. It is also about how our nervous system responded and whether we had the support, resources, and safety needed to recover. Years later, trauma can continue to influence our thoughts, emotions, relationships, health, and behaviour, often without us realising it.

Moreover, it’s a moment to share stories, offer hope, and remind ourselves that mental health is just as vital as physical health.
