  • What is the Employee Assistance Program?

    An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a work-based intervention program designed to enhance the emotional, mental and general psychological wellbeing of all employees and includes services for immediate family members. 


    The aim is to provide preventive and proactive interventions for the early detection, identification and/or resolution of both work and personal problems that may adversely affect performance and wellbeing. 


    These problems and issues may include, but are not limited to, relationships, health, trauma, substance abuse, gambling and other addictions, financial problems, depression, anxiety disorders, psychiatric disorders, communication problems, legal and coping with change.

  • What does the Employee Assistance Program process look like?

    The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) process is:


    1. The employee contacts EASA

    2. EASA confirms the employees details and schedules an appointment accordingly

    3. The employee completes a client registration form upon attending initial appointment

    4. The employee is entitled to 1 hour with the clinician per appointment

    5. Employee and clinician determine ongoing support

    6. Subsequent appointments scheduled if required.

  • What types of therapies are available?

    EASA has over 20 clinicians with a range of qualifications, specialties and areas of interest. These include, but are not limited to general psychologists, social workers and general counsellors. Our team offer a range of accredited therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Clinical Hypnotherapy, Play Therapy, Sex Therapy and Neurofeedback Therapy.

  • What services under the Employee Assistance Program are available to immediate family members?

    Often immediate family members are entitled to the same session allowance as employees under the Employee Assistance Program.  Immediate family members includes your spouse / partner and any dependants. To check if your immediate family members are able to access sessions under your Employee Assistance Program, please contact us via telephone or email.

  • Where does the service take place?

    Face-to-face sessions are ideal, given that so much of communication is non-verbal and face time helps in building rapport initially.  These sessions are conducted at one of our many offices (Parap, Coolalinga, Alice Springs, Katherine, and Nhulunbuy) we also have visiting services to Jabiru, Yulara and Tennant Creek.  If you are unable to attend your appointment in person, the appointment can be via telephone or a video conferencing platform such as Skype or Zoom.

  • Is this service confidential?

    The Employee Assistance Program is confidential.  There are only a handful of circumstances in which any information can be released and these include:

    • If there is a perceived significant risk to life or harm to others;
    • Under court subpoena and in compliance with Federal or NT legislation;
    • Where the client has given written or verbal permission to disclose to another professional agency or third party in accordance with the disclosure notification.

    At the beginning of your initial appointment your clinician will also discuss our confidentiality with you.  Any concerns you may have can be raised directly with them at this time. 


  • Can I access this service? (eligibility)

    EASA provides Employee Assistance Programs to the Northern Territory Government and has over 150 agreements with local businesses and organisations.  We also provide services on behalf of agencies such as Benestar, Lifeworks, Converge and AccessEAP.  If you’re not sure whether your employer has an agreement with us, or you’d like to know what you’re entitled to under your employers agreement, please contact us via phone or email.

  • What if I don't like my Clinician?

    Finding a clinician with the right approach and experience is important. EASA has a number of dedicated clinicians with a range of qualifications, specialities and areas of interests, and you are welcome to switch clinician if you find that the match isn’t quite right. To do so, you can either discuss a referral with your clinician or simply speak with our friendly administration team.  Our administration team have a comprehensive understanding of our clinicians’ backgrounds and are able to recommend the most suited clinician for you.

  • What is the cost?

    This service is free to employees that have access to an Employee Assistance Program, up to the number of sessions available under their employers agreement.
