Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) encompass a range of confidential counselling and psychological support services, paid for by employers, for employees and immediate family members* (i.e. spouse, children). Sessions are 1-hour in duration and the annual allocation* is renewed each year on 1st January.

Counselling provides a safe, confidential space to discuss personal or work-related issues with a qualified professional and receive support and useful advice.

Benefits of Counselling

People attend counselling for a variety of reasons – work-related stress or conflict, trauma, grief, loss, career issues, relationship problems, stress, anxiety, depression, child / adolescent issues, alcohol or drug problems.
Confidential counselling can assist by clarifying the issue, identifying realistic goals, and developing new perspectives and coping skills.

How do I book an appointment under my EAP?

Simple! Just call EASA to arrange your first appointment and provide your full name, employer details, location and a mobile number for our SMS-reminder service. EASA requires a minimum 24 hours' notice of any cancellations as it enables us to offer appointments to clients on our Waiting List. EASA's Cancellation Policy is in place to ensure the best service availability for all of our clients.

Is it confidential?

Definitely! EASA's Confidentiality Policy is guided by the APS and any breach can be prosecuted under Australian law. The EAP is delivered independently of your employer and, for invoicing purposes, Reference Numbers are used in place of client names. No identifying information can be released without your prior, written consent.

Who pays for EAP counselling?

Under an EAP contract with your employer, your employer has agreed to fund an annual allocation of sessions, free to employees and, depending on the contract terms, to immediate family members, living under the same roof.

If you are not covered by an EAP, EASA does receive walk-in clients. A 1-hour session is $195, payable in advance by credit card. If you have a GP Referral with a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you are eligible for a partial rebate via the Medicare Benefits Scheme.
